FAQ

Here are answers to nearly all your questions.  If you do not find a satisfactory answer on this page, write us.

Can I travel with my pet?
Pets are not allowed on board our buses.  The only exception: guide dogs, which are essential for their owners… we always have space for them.

Can I travel with my bike?
Yes, we will also take your bike! Go to the package shipping counter with your dismantled, packed bike. We can provide you with a box if needed for $6, or a bag for $3.  The actual shipping of your bike only costs $5… so why pass it up?

We will then put your bike in the same bus as you if possible. If not, it will be on the next bus.  You can retrieve it when you get off the bus or at the package counter in the bus terminal of your destination.

Do I have to reserve my seat?
Reservations are not required with Acadian: it's first come, first served.
If there are no seats available at boarding time, we will add an extra coach, provided one is available.
Otherwise, you will be able to board the next departure with your ticket.
Note: must book ahead of time if you use a wheelchair. See how.

Can I buy my tickets online?
Yes, you can now buy tickets on this site using your credit card (Visa and MasterCard). Go to our online purchase section.  Choose your origin and destination cities, the number of tickets you need, and that’s it… You only have to print your tickets before packing your bags and leaving.

What methods of payment are accepted for purchasing tickets?
For online tickets, we accept all the main credit cards (Visa and MasterCard). At Acadian points of sale, you can also pay for tickets using a debit card or cash.

How many suitcases can I bring?
You can bring two suitcases with a maximum weight of 34 kg (75 lbs.), each measuring no more than 60 x 60 x 90 cm (24 x 24 x 36 in.). You also can bring one carry-on bag that can easily be stowed in the compartment above the bus seats.

Do you have more baggage?
No problem: we will take them for an extra charge of $5 per suitcase one-way or $10 per suitcase for a return trip (maximum of two extra suitcases). You must inform our clerk when buying your ticket.

What happens if I lose my ticket?
Unfortunately it is impossible for us to replace lost tickets or tickets with worn print, making them unreadable, so be careful with your tickets!

What happens if I do not use my ticket?
Our tickets have no expiry date. You can’t go? Keep your ticket… it’ll remain valid as long as you have it.

Can I buy a ticket for a person in another city?
It is possible to buy a ticket for a person in another city. You only have to go the bus terminal (Acadian or the company serving the city you are in to purchase the ticket. The sale will be confirmed by fax at the person’s departure terminal to pay the ticket. Additional non-reimbursable fees of $10 ($15 outside Quebec) apply for this service.

Can I travel with a baby?
Our bus seats are not equipped to accommodate baby seats.  Also we cannot offer a change table. Plan to bring a blanket with you so you can comfortably hold your child on your lap for the trip.

As a safety measure, we prohibit parents, as we do all other passengers, from walking in the central aisle while the bus is moving.

Can children travel alone?
Under certain conditions, your child can travel alone safely on our buses.  Ask for the document “Child Travelling Alone” when you buy his ticket.  A child must be at least eight to travel alone with us.

Up to 12 years of age, a child travelling alone is not permitted to make connections outside our network, and you cannot purchase just a one-way ticket for him.

Lastly, for safety reasons, we prohibit children 12 and under to board and leave our buses in a city without an Acadian ticket agent.
