Conditions of service
   

We carry all packages under 34 kg (75 lb) in weight.

 

Maximum volume of any shipped package is 60 cm x 60 cm x 90 cm, or 3.24 m3 (2 ft x 2 ft x 3 ft, or 12 ft3). Double express charges will apply to all packages of greater dimension and/or volume.

 

Maximum accepted length is 2.1 m (7 ft).

 

Shipper’s and consignee’s names, addresses, telephone numbers must be clearly written on all packages.

 

In addition, "fragile" or "perishable" labels or any other relevant information must clearly appear on all packages, when required.

 

A waybill can contain up to five (5) packages for shipment from one single shippper to one single consignee.

 

Acadian Express Courier will make every effort to ship all packages to the destination terminal or agency within the best delivery time whitout a guarantee arrival time. The consignee will be advised as soon as possible of the parcel’s arrival.

 

Acadian Express Courier does not make any commitment to transport or deliver a package within a given timeframe and cannot be liable in the following situations: :

 

Breakdows, bad road conditions, hazards of nature, strikes, accidents or any other acts of God;

Shipper and/or consignee errors or omissions (missing information).

 

Acadian Express Courier reserves the right to open and to inspect packages and to check merchandise.

 

   
Rate structure
   

The basic service pricing structure includes express charges from the origin point of sale to the destination point of sale.

 

The rate is determined according to the package weight and the travel distance.

 

Pick-up and delivery charges must be added to the basic express charges.

 

A double rate surcharge will be applied when the package dimension/volume exceeds the accepted restrictions of 60 cm x 60 cm x 90 cm, or 3.24 m3 (2 ft x 2 ft x 3 ft, or 12 ft3).

 

All packages shipped with “Collect Charges” are subject to a $3. surcharge.

 

   
Insurance
   

Shipper must declare the value of the package to be shipped.

 

Acadian Express Courier’s liaibility is limited to a maximum declared value of $100. per shipment if no additional insurance is purchased.

 

For all packages exceeding the $100. declared value, there is a $2. surcharge per additional $100. of value.

 

Acadian Express Courier’s liability is limited to a maximum of $1,000. in value. Any package whose value exceeds $ 1,000. will be shipped at owner’s own risks.

 

   
Insurance coverage limitations
   

Certains types of shipments can’t be insured.
If an electronic device is shipped in its original box and the shipper has purchased insurance coverage, breakage will be covered. However, insurance will not cover operating malfunctions, be they attributed to transportation or not.

 

Prohibited Shipments
Acadian Express Courier will not accept to transport the following types of packages:

 

Animals (including insects and other living species).

Cash or items of great value, such as jewelry.

Any substance whose transport or possession is illegal.

Hazardous material.

Any parcel that is not properly packaged.

Any Cash on Delivery (C.O.D.) shipment.

Any package whose weight is more than 34 kg (75 lb).

Any package whose length exceeds 2.1 m (7 ft).

 

Non-Insurable Package – At Owner’s Own Risk

 

Perishable goods (with a limited lifespan), for example:
    Feed, food;
   Animal semen;
   Flowers and plants.

Shipment of perishable goods containing ice or any other liquid must be packed in a designated sealed plastic bag (bag can be purchased at major points of sale).

Electronic devices not in their original packing box, such as:

  Computers and other peripheral equipment (screens, keyboards, printers, etc.);
  Televisions; Sound systems.

Acadian Express Courier declines, rejects and does not accept any liability as a consequence of the delay, the date and time of arrival of documents sent in a shipment. All such documents include estimates, tenders, contracts, orders of intent or agreements to sell, lawsuits, notices to appear or any other legal or commercial document whose time of delivery could be of whatsoever importance.

FRAGILE PARCELS - Glass, potery, porcelain and any other breakable item.

 

Unclaimed or Refused Package

 

A package will be stored at no charge for a ten (10) day period following notification of consignee. At the end of this period, storage costs of $ 2. per day will be charged for each package.

 

Storage costs of $ 2. per day will apply the day after package arrival if the consignee’s telephone number is not listed on the package.

 

An unclaimed package or a package that was refused during this ten (10) day period will be returned to the shipper who must pay the express charges as well as the storage costs. If the shipper, once advised, does not recover the package, the carrier will keep the package for a 90-day period. After this period, the latter may dispose of the package, as he likes.

 

Claims
All claims must be filed with the carrier listed on the waybill within sixty (60) days of shipment. The claimant must include a receipt for the lost or damaged item as well as any information related to the lost or damaged package.
